We are located right in the fly fishing heart of the Victorian High Country. From our location, there are six different trout-filled rivers and streams within only 15 minutes drive. Within 30 minutes, we can choose from over ten waterways, including a crystal clear highland lake situated at over 5900 feet in altitude, We also have large rivers prone to abundant insect hatches that have been known to evoke wild trout into a feeding frenzy! Whether you are fly fishing novice or an advanced angler, our fly fishing tours will meet you at your level.
Here at High Country Guiding, we are surrounded by mountain streams, which offer some of the most exciting and action-packed fly fishing around. A Victorian mountain stream is bound to put a smile on your face, from open banks to tight and hidden runs, smaller water often fishes well all day. Don’t be fooled into thinking smaller water equals smaller trout; at times the bigger fish make their way up these streams and can be caught in close quarters. This phenomenon can make for some of the most exhilarating fly fishing in Australia.
Special note All fly fishing adventures are also offered to beginners, no experience is required as fly fishing tuition is given.

One of our accommodation options is located on a beautiful backcountry station; this working station is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery in all directions. There are a good number of classical fly fishing streams and rivers within a short drive of the lodge. On the outer boundaries of this beautiful farm is a spectacular head water stream offering both Browns and Rainbows in breathtakingly clear pools. Close by locations include the Mount Cook National Parklands and the townships of Lake Tekapo. There is also Twizel and Omaraman which are gateways to more exceptional fly fishing options.
