Fly Fish The Victorian High Country By Four-Wheel-Drive

Many rivers in the Victorian High Country are simply unreachable without a modified four-wheel-drive, not to mention the equipment and lived experience that is required to navigate this, at times, unforgiving terrain.

There are stunning streams, rivers and spring creeks to fish, which are some of Australia’s finest. Whether you are a novice to fly fishing or an advanced angler, our fly fishing tours will meet you at your level. Let us take you to those trout which have little to no fishing pressure. We can four-wheel-drive our way into some of the most remote rivers left on this planet for a truly unique fly fishing experience. These valleys are dotted with meandering rivers and hidden creeks that are full of trout eager to take your fly.

Special note All fly fishing adventures are also offered to beginners, no experience is required as fly fishing tuition is given.

Accommodation

There are many lodging options available; how about a luxury High Country retreat, with food to die for and a manicured garden complete with sun lounge and outdoor bar? At High Country Guiding we can even provide a wilderness camp setup, complete with a bushman’s breakfast, lunch and dinner for the expedition.

Fly Fish The North East Of Victoria

We are located right in the fly fishing heart of the Victorian High Country. From our location, there are six different trout-filled rivers and streams within only 15 minutes drive. Within 30 minutes, we can choose from over ten waterways, including a crystal clear highland lake situated at over 5900 feet in altitude, We also have large rivers prone to abundant insect hatches that have been known to evoke wild trout into a feeding frenzy! Whether you are fly fishing novice or an advanced angler, our fly fishing tours will meet you at your level.

Here at High Country Guiding, we are surrounded by mountain streams, which offer some of the most exciting and action-packed fly fishing around. A Victorian mountain stream is bound to put a smile on your face, from open banks to tight and hidden runs, smaller water often fishes well all day. Don’t be fooled into thinking smaller water equals smaller trout; at times the bigger fish make their way up these streams and can be caught in close quarters. This phenomenon can make for some of the most exhilarating fly fishing in Australia.
Special note All fly fishing adventures are also offered to beginners, no experience is required as fly fishing tuition is given.
